What's the best, long lasting paint for my 235 exhaust manifold? Maybe rusty burned off looks original here, but not too pretty. But I have seen stories, and half peeled off fake doesn't look pretty either. Some restorers have worked hard, then manifold paint starts to peel off after a month or a year. I'll paint the intake engine color.

What current product really looks good and stays? How is the best way to clean and prep? Can it be done with a rust remover chemical, if I can't get to a sand blaster.

What about that high heat filler sold by some, to put on first?

Thanks, 'bolters!

I'll used Eastwood hi-temp paint for a numbers of years. While it looks good at first, after a hard run in the rain the paint is gone and I have to recoat. If one were to media blast the pipes before painting it might last longer, I didn't. Note...when you start the truck after painting the pipes BE SURE to do it outside, That caution on the can is for real.

Have it ceramic coated if longevity is your biggest concern.

Last year I needed to do a lot of things under the hood. One of the things I did was replace the manifold gasket. I sandblasted the intake and exaust. Then I coated it with a rattle can of S.S. wood stove/ BBQ paint. Looks very close to the right color. I have about 500 miles on it, and it looks fresh and clean. It is somethig to consider, Jimmie.

por 15 also makes manifold paint

''''' This Aluminum high temperature paint is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1400° F, POR-20® is also extremely weather, salt and moisture resistant. Helps prevent cracking, chipping, and peeling. You will be excited by its performance and beauty. We guarantee this to be the most brilliant, uniform heat resistant coating available anywhere. '''

i use the silver and (also the gray) it's good (they say) to 1400 degrees. the black is 1200 degrees
