Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2017 Posts: 326 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2017 Posts: 326 | I am trying to replace the rear spring eye bolts and bushings (shackles are already done) and I have a question about removing the old pin. It looks like I will need to remove the step in order to either drive the pin inboard or to drive it out outboard. Has anyone done this and can tell me how they did it? Rereading the manual and I see that they say to drive out the lock bolt, and then use a slide hammer threaded into the lubrication fitting to remove the pin. And there is no way to do that without removing the step.
Thanks, Lee.

There is even a difference between the front springs and the rear springs pivot pins. I’ve replaced all the shackles and one of the front pivot pins and am now working on the rear pins. Lee.

I used a U joint press and they came out with some hard work. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2017 Posts: 326 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2017 Posts: 326 | Though all of the shackles needed replacing, especially after removing the pins and seeing the condition on the inside, I am considering leaving these alone for now. But I cannot get it to accept grease, the grease bypasses around the fitting (maybe I need a better grease gun?). I have cleaned the inside of the pin out as much as I could, but I cannot clean out the hole in the pin that allows grease to move to the space between the sleeve and the pin. I am guessing that it is plugged up with old dried out grease. Does anyone know of a way to apply a cleaner (such as jet A) under pressure to force clean it?
