I am planning on using a t5 transmission and a mechanical clutch. I was wondering if there is anyway of keeping the stock bellhousing crossmember or does it need to be replaced with an aftermarket version? My goal was to keep everything stock except the engine and driveline. I really don't want to cut the frame or modify it....except the bolt in engine mounts And moving the fan.

The crossmember is virtually a bolt-in swap for the 1950, so no permanent modifications to the frame will be involved. The 292 block bolts onto the V8 bellhousing since all the 3rd. generation sixes have the V8 bolt pattern. You'll still have to deal with the extra length somehow when it comes to positioning the radiator. Jerry

I assumed some aftermarket crossmember would need to be modified and custom fit and my metal working skills are slim to none. I don't mind moving the radiator or using an electric fan as long as it keeps me from modifying the fire wall.
