Good day everyone! First time posting here, but been following for a while.

I have a big bolt, a 1953 Chevrolet 2 ton Canadian truck, model 1500 here. Long story short, bought the truck this last March in Eston Saskatchewan, Canada and got it shipped to my place in East Hawkesbury, Ontario. Paid more for the transport than the truck, but anyway...
Truck was sitting for 25 years or so, gas turned to tar, so I rebuild the carb, fuel pump, clean the tank, rebuild starter and generator, change the water pump, tuned up, couple frost plugs, clean inside the engine (by the way, in Canada we were lucky enough to have the full pressure 235" in 53), new seat and new 825-20 tires. Now I'm building a new deck on the back, 8' X 12' to haul my antique tractors. The truck is 100% original and surprisingly enough, not farmers molestered. Also had to replace both windshields cause the hood went and smack them during transport. I did make sure to mention to the driver to tie the hood and doors before leaving, but his reply was... I've been trucking for 40 years and this is a waist of time..... Well guess who was right?

Any way, just want to say hello and thanks for the help you guys provided and I hope to be able to help too.

Welcome aboard, sorry for your bad start. Hope you can have recourse with the shipper or it will be intercourse for you. The windshields and dents in the hood should be his responsibility.

Welcome Santerre, nice to have a Canadian truck. You hoping to have it on the road this summer?

Thanks for the welcoming folks.

The truck is on the road now with about 600 miles on it so far. Got most of the bugs out of it by now. I use the truck almost daily around. This weekend will be the first test with a small load on the bed. Going to Cumberland for our first antique outdoor show of the year bringing a John Deere M on the back.
So far, a blast to drive.

As for the windshields, I was planning on replacing them anyway as they were starting to show white between lamination. I ordered a new lace and got them both cut locally for 60$. Luckily enough, the outside of the hood only suffer a small scratch, matching the other... The worse was the spot welds let go on the spring hinges. The other day, driving back from a meeting, I spotted a old truck sitting halfway sink into the ground. Ask the old farmer if I can purchase the center window trim, got it for 10$.

Welcome to the Stovebolt where great guys share tons of knowledge. Old trucks, old tractors, just doesn't get any better. See you around the garage forums.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
