I found these two items, one in each door, when I had the windows out to replace the channel weatherstrip. They are kinda soft, so maybe when they were young they could have been foam like. I have not seen anything like it in any of the catalogs of door parts, so I do not know what they might be. Someone in interiors thought that maybe a PO put them between the glass and the door to keep the rattling down, but I talked to the PO who has had the vehicle since the mid-60's and he does not recall using anything like that. Though they would be a good fit as the length is about right. Could it be something that was used on the assembly line and just not removed? I am just curious.

Thanks, Lee.

.....sticks from a by-gone day to hold the window up.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Ah, the things we used to do for comfort, or for inspections.

These might be pieces used to fit between the door outer skin and a horizontal reinforcement that spans the left and right door frame members. My ‘46 has similar looking foam rubber-like pieces. My guess is they were used to cushion the skin from that horizontal reinforcement pices?

Sven, that sure looks like them. They both have that slight curve to them, I’ll have to hang on to them and next time I have the windows out see if I can put them back in maybe. Thanks.

Lee.
