I planned to convert the front brakes to disk so I purchased a conversion kit from Dave Chapman at Hollister Road Co. in Houston. His comment at the time was "Feel free to call anytime if you have questions." I called a short time later and his son informed me that he had passed away that morning. When I tried to make the conversion the brackets for the calipers would not fit my truck. My brother was helping (actually doing most of the work) and he has over 10 years experience as a brake mechanic. Neither of us could make it work. I may be able to have a shop do some cutting and welding, but I'm not sure it can be worked out. So, have any of you had experience with Dave Chapman? And, do you have any suggestions for a source for new conversion brackets? Thanks, Bob 53RLT56. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 | Hy 53RLT56, I don't think you may post pictures yet, make a couple of more posts trying to describe the problem, then when you have five posts under your belt you will be allowed to post pictures. As the saying goes one picture is worth a thousand words, post some pictures of the parts and your axle and we will try and help you figure it all out. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 357 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 357 | Hi, I have Dave's brakes. Are you mounting the Calipers towards the front of the wheel. Or so that the calipers are hung over the front of the wheel.

The current brackets are great as the first edition needed some revisions. The 2011 CHEV Express van, 1 ton calipers, rotors and the dual M/C with the power boostermakes like WONDERFUL! The earlier ones with the shortened steering shaft made turning radius distance really increase. I think the 3/4 and one tons are the same.

Does anyone know if someone might be reproducing them? Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2000 Posts: 199 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2000 Posts: 199 | A set of good pictures of the later revision set would be great. I may try to recreate for my 47 as well | | |
