The right vent window on my '53 3100 was making an unusual amount of noise. When I pulled the handle it came off and I can't find the pin that was in it. I ordered a split roll pin and need some advice on how to install it. I imagine that I simply press it in, but if so, how do you ever get one out? Thanks

Good question. The hole that you put the roll pin in, should go all the way through your handle. Perhaps there is some dirt or paint, that is covering the other end of the hole. The hole is tapered. So, you just need to use a small pin punch to drive into the hole. Then, if you need to take it out. Use a small pin punch it back out. Just take your time and make sure that you have the roll pin going in straight. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

After you clean the hole out, you can start the roll pin with a small hammer. Then put the handle on the pivot and gently squeeze the pin in with Channellocks. You'll probably have to adjust the pliers a couple times in the process, but this is much safer than hammering the pin in and snapping the stud off. John

...........I know they are small roll pins but I still grind a small taper on one end to make it easy. The roll pins have a slot in them for a purpose. They actually get squeezed when you put them in and that helps them to stay tight. Some I get out and some I have to drill out.
...boogered one up once and went to the next size up. ACE Hardware has a container with all different sizes.

...........and dont forget to put the wave washer on before sliding the handle on.
