A while back there was a thread about constructing a temporary paintbooth. At the time I had posted a link to a copyrighted article which was justifably removed. However in doing a little searching I found these two public domain items:

A little ingenuity following those plans and you can create whatever size you need for your project.

I like this idea of a temporary paint booth. I am somewhat concerned about static electricity building up with the use of PVC and plastic. There are many flammable ingredients in paint, and one spark could cause big problems. What are y'all's thoughts on this?

I would guess you just make sure the plastic was all the way down onto the floor, also wetting the floor should help. We got too much humidity for static most of the time.

I have a friend who takes 2x2's and makes walls that he can take down and put up in his garage. He just covers them with plastic and filters in one side to draw in the air. The other side has a fan through the wall that exits to the outside.

he also paints in the middle of the night as to not disturb the neighbors, or draw attention to the fact that it is unlawful for his to do in a residentual area. He would probably need permits and hazardous waste disposal too. ?? Just thought I'd mention that. wink

I hope he takes care not to overspray the neighbor's vehicle(s). He could help alleviate that problem by filtering the outgoing air too.

If you are worried about static on the plastic, then buy the paper coated plastic drop cloths from the hardware store and use those. They absorb the overspray a bit and the paint doesn't flake off when you bump them. Put one on the floor, too.

You could use the metal frame of one of those portable gazebos instead of plastic pipe. I have a 10x10 folding one that has a metal frame, I got it for $100 and it even has a handy carrying case with wheels.
