Is it possible to disassemble the bed on my 59 fleetside by simply unbolting the front section, tailgate trunions and chain mounts, and support rails? Or are there welded sections to contend with? I'm trying to find the best attack plan for stripping/painting.

Ditto what Brian said on the '60-'66 fleetside beds. In addition to the small stitch welds on the rear cross sill, there are a few bolts with capture nuts, therefore the rear cross sill can be reassembled via the bolted connections. Good luck with your project.
