The truck is forest green. The grill is green and a cream color. Were these standard colors and were there any that were done with chrome? Also...my door / window trim has been repainted green. Underneath the drivers side I can see chrome. The passenger side doesn't have it. I'm now ceratin that the truck has some non-original parts on it but how should I restore it??? In 1949-1951, the "back splash" bar of the painted grille was white (with no pin stripe on the body-colored part of the bar).
Chrome grills were an available option in 1951.
Are you referring to the inside or outside door-window trim/molding? I think bright (stainless) molding was available in both locations in RPO 390 in 1951.
Build sheet? Receipt with options and accessories, maybe.
How should you restore it? It's your truck; it's your choice.

The chrome trim was on the outside of the window...underneath some paint. I asked about the build sheet because I also have a '67 Firebird and was able to get a copy of the original factory build sheet from Pontiac Historical services. A build sheet does not seem to have come with these trucks. Also, the ID plate does not identify much more than truck size/series/GVW.
I'm with you regarding restoration of these trucks. Keeping them period correct can be a challenge, especially in finding out what is period correct. Finding parts is not too bad. There are a lot of opinions here and a lot of helpful people.
Regarding 6v vs 12v, if you are not going to add any modern accessories, the 6v is very reliable. First thing would be to get 1/0 (00) or 2/00 (00) battery cables from a big truck shop or a Tractor Supply Store and an Optima 6v battery (they are very powerful and they last a long time).

Apparently your drivers door was replaced with a door that had the stainless trim and was painted to match the other door. I have a 51 5 window and my grille colors are the same as yours, green with creame. 1947-48 splash bars painted to match the body color.
1949-51 splash bars painted a cream color
1952-53 splash bars painted grey to match the painted hub caps and bumpers.
