I wouldn't minde rebuilding the steering box while I'm rebuuilding the mechanicals. Can the steering column be removed from the bottom of the frame when its up on an average set of Walmart jack stands, or do you have to get it up higher like with a lift?

It can be done that way. Basically, you manipulate the steering box down enough so that the top of the steering column come out of the firewall and then bring the whole assembly (column and steering box) up and out through the top.

I took mine out through the bottom with no problem. Mine sits higher though then pickups because of the taller tires.

Nawww, get out, are you guys are saying that it will come out even with out using jack stands????
You mean that it will slide forward enough to tilt up, how bout the hood will it clear that?
Man, looking at it again and it sure don't look like it will go far enough forward to clear the firewall with out haveing it up pretty high.
Well based on that I guess I'll put it on the list of things to be done. before I do the full cab off, frame up work this fall.
Thanks

I PULLED MY OUT THROUGH THE BOTTOM WITHOUT JACK STANDS TOO. I HAD MY ENGINE AND FENDERS OFF THOUGH. I JUST UNBOLTED THE STEERING GEARBOX AND PULLED IT RIGHT OUT. EASY AS PIE!
