1966 gmc 2 ton 4x4 dump truck. my steering box has the pitman arm coming out of the side of the box when steering the arm moves from front to back. all the newer steering boxes have the pitman arm on the bottom of the box is there a power steering box that has the arm out the side or do you have to use the one with the arm on the bottom thanks in advance

what exact truck are you working on? Different year trucks were setup differently. Someone trying to help you will need that info to get you a good answer.

The box you have is common on the larger trucks back then.
Also there were no integral power steering boxes per say.

They used the power assist set up.

Had a control valve in the drag link, and Hyd. cylinder from the tie rod to axle
Or pitman arm to frame.

If your planning on adding PS need to visit a Truck salvage yard to find something
Compatible and remove the whole thing.

Dodge and possibly others have a casting that turns the box 90 degrees so one can get fore and aft action. Mid-90's GMC P3500 baby school buses have correct box for fore and aft action, standard(w/o casting).

Was there actually a factory power steering option for a 1966 C60? Has anyone come up with a good conversion from manual to P/S for this truck. I love driving mine but man its a work out.

I had Factory PS in my '62 GMC 6500. It was really more like a Power Assist, which is all I needed anyway. I never did like my steering too easy, lol.
