The port has a hex section around the base. Can I unscrew the whole thing and take it out without any complications? Looks like the whole procedure is about full servicing of the rear bearing and speedo drive gear. l only need to remove the speedo DRIVEN gear. They remove it after taking the rest apart but don't say you can't only remove the driven gear before . That's what I'm asking. My Blog | | | | | Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 480 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 480 | When I tried to install the speedometer cable on my '53 one ton I couldn't get it to go into the transmission. Turned out there was so much crud in the hole it blocked it. I took a piece of stiff wire and some PB Blaster and cleaned it out. Eventually it got cleared enough that the cable would go in, but it took about an hour of fussing.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road. Tim
