Hi Stovebolters!

I picked up another project, a 1948 Chevy truck. I got it from a kid in Giltner, Nebraska and his last name is Rudy -- so Rudy Giltner it is!

Here is how it looked when it bought it off of a Facebook site. It's a Zach's place there.

In this pix you see there is no tail gate. But we took a ride two weeks ago and found one along with a bumper and splash apron.

Here it is back at the house, the day it showed up in Mechanicsville NY. We have been busy gathering parts and trying to get everything under cover before the snow flies.

Here is a side view c10 chassis. We found this in the town next door to me, rust free, from one of the Carolinas.

Had a neighbor pass away and his son was nice enough to give me his old engine crane. I took it apart and brought had to haul it home in three pieces behind my little old s10.

We Picked up a new old transmission, too -- NV3500 -- from a C1500 Chevy truck.

The same neighbors son also sold me 2 Chevy motors for $100 -- one is a 4.3 V6 and the other is a 235 straight 6.

Mike, the fenders looked banged up a little but past that looks like a good deal. Thanks for posting the pictures.

....whats the plans? Resto to original, resto rod, daily driver or make it work and earn its keep?
Glad you found one. They made a lot of these trucks but the supply has to be getting thin!

Only do body work as needed...keep the outside looking it's age too.

We want a spare vehicle that my wife and I can both drive -- 5 speed, power steering, disc brakes, nice rear end gears too. Something I can tow my 1996 Dodge Neon oval track car to the local dirt track. Nothing special really. The 1984 chassis should get me the ride we are looking for -- a 4.3 V6 should be able to get it done I hope. Would like to be able to take it on the Interstate if need be too.

A little side note. I took last winter off from the garage and then ended up gaining 15 pounds staying inside the house. Told the wife I gotta find something to work on this winter.

(10-1-2017) 1948 Chevy cab is resting on 1984 chassis...waiting for body mount bushings from classic parts...gotta take the front sheet-metal apart so we will be able to line up front fenders with front axle...

We got the cab all set in place...I even got the old cab mounts off the 1948 1 ton chassis too....

tossing around ideas for the hanging clutch and brake pedal assembly....was thinking about a OEM style but then the about of hodge podging might get crazy...might just bite the bullet and buy and quality after market assembly and be done with it...

Hi Stovebolters....

Cab mounts showed up on Monday...took me until Wednesday to find time to start mounting them up....

fresh from Classic Industries....

Before these parts showed up I had mounted the cab up in faux kinda way....so I had these holes all drilled and waiting for the parts to show up...

all nice and neat in its new place....

It took some finagling but they fit rather well...I know in stock form these is not much for cushion action so I am hoping these will make the ride a little more enjoyable...

Next on the docket....front mounts...should be a little more interesting I hope...

Hi Stovebolters

I recently got a call from a older fellow who owns one of my dads old trucks and he offered to sell me it for a decent price....might be selling this project to finance this purchase...my dads truck is a 1947 Hudson pickup...runs and drives...needs tires from what I can tell...

Only time will tell...

A 25 year old kid drove 3 hours each way and took the old 1948 Chevy truck back to his place in Conn...I only lost like $1300.00 on this one...I consider myself very lucky right now....
