If the gallery link below works you should see some photos of my truck in it's current condition.
I had mentioned in my first post that this is a truck my father purchased several years ago, being the same year he graduated HS.
After dad passed I bought the truck from mom.

I have finally got it rolling again and we are excited about making it more road worthy as we can.

Mom and dad called the truck "Dumps" because of the hydraulic bed they had installed.

"Dumps" looks to have a lot of work left in him. Many times I wished I had one with a dump bed on it. Getting to old to shovel. Thanks for sharing....

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Yep still going strong but does need some attention to be daily dependable. We drove it over to a quarry weigh scale last Friday and got it weighed empty.
Right at 5,000 lbs. so the wheels I picked out rated at 3,640 each should handle it ok. They all had a smile on their face when we showed up, even the guys
in the big modern dumpers were grinning. The scale house charged us $10 and it was a thrill getting there and back home on the not so round tires.

I know that when dad bought the truck it had the original wood bed and sides which he painted once, but then ultimately replaced the bed with this hydraulic unit.

I need to work on the hydraulics some to get it working again. My wife wants us to drive it to one of the drive-in movies so we can park in the back and raise
the bed up a little then relax and watch the movies. Or fall asleep as I often did at the drive-in...
