For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | I have been looking for a windshield for the 54 for some time now and have found prices all over the place from over $300 to under $100. The latest and least expensive I have located is from LMC for $79.95 plus $17 shipping.
This sounded so inconsistent with everything else I have been considering that I called to confirm it is a one piece windshield using A-1 safety glass with the shade strip across the top. Has anyone used LMC for glass in the past?
Any other suggestions on windshield sources? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | China? Seriously, there is a glass shop near me, $100(usually less) will buy a w/s for anything from a 64 Chevy pickup to a 90 Silverado to a 69 Chevelle. All are from China. I was amazed last year, they came to my house & installed a new tinted shaded one in my 64 for a little less than $150. Getting home w/them unbroken is sometimes more scary than installing them. I got mine from LMC, it took two tries to get one to me without it being broken, they shipped the second one free of charge. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 641 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 641 | i got two sets of glass from lmc the first batch showed with over half broken they shipped me new glass at no charge they wont insure they just replace instead i havent used mine yet but it looks fine | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 | The front and rear glass went in fine, no problems. | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | Glad to hear that. I got my glass shipment in last week and everything looks good. I had ordered the vent and door glass from Jim Carters initially and the tints did not match. They were returned with no problem. The glass received from LMC came very well packaged and all tints match. Vent assembly rebuild is in process. Hardest part so far was removing the old glass. The cab glass will be installed after final paint. May get in touch with you then to get some pointers. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | that's funny jay i just posted on the general truck the same question about new glass. looks like the answer will be faster than getting the truck back. 8 months and counting. one of the guys at work asked how it was coming. my answer was that he figured out how much i will make next year and is working toward that goal. good luck on your windshield.
