does anybody know if you can turn a front axle around and run it backwards to use rack and pinion ......tie rods are on the back of axle and rack and pinion is in the front

Why don't you use a rear steer rack, like a Ford T-bird rack? The make a kit for the 55-59 trucks and they also have the tie rod to the rear, maybe it could be adapted for your truck???

Also, make sure the rack is mounted to the axle, otherwise you'll have terrible bump steer issues!

The steering arms are just bolted to the spindles, can't you just swap them and leave the axle alone?

How do you plan on making the connection to the rack when the axle and rack move and the steering column doesn't?

Buy some good insurance- - - - -a life policy for yourself and a high-dollar liability policy for the people you're about to run over. R&P on a straight axle is a disaster looking for somewhere to happen.
