The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Where two are gathered

So I was on my way to the landfill with a load of hedge clippings when I made a detour past the Big Power Meet here in Lidköping and turned into the grounds. It was yesterday Thursday so there were only about 15 000 cars arrived, but among the many visitors from distant parts I met a fellow 'bolter! Helmut has driven about 1,600 km (1,000 miles) to get here on the Autobahn in a pretty much stock 55, the AD model. Here are some pix:

Later we both continued on to the landfill, and then the strawberry patch, and then I was able to share Mexican leftovers. So we'e good buddies now. The Power Meet continues through the weekend so maybe I'll post some more pictures.

Interesting story. Interesting picture of the Sinclair Motor Oil truck. The rear bumper is a "Smash Hit"--made by the Perry Company Co. from Waco, Texas. I rescued one from the scrap pile, restored it, and it is now mounted on my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton.

There's another funny part in this story. Amongst thousands of cars on an airfield runway ours were parked in the same row with only nine other cars in between. This way I had no chance of missing the stovebolt flag when I was returning to my truck. After leaving a note and checking back we finally met.

It is a great pleasure to meet a fellow bolter, and Karl is such a nice guy that I forget about the strain of being on the road for a pretty long time. Meeting Karl alone was well worth the trip.

Since this is the first time I am at a really big car event I am a bit overwhelmed by that also. I've never seen more than 20 american cars at once in my lifetime, and here there are thousands of them.

That is awesome show and meeting guys. Organbuilder, the yellow vehicle is a Chevrolet HHR truck, a modern remake of the AD style. Wishing I could find a show in our area like yours, would be quite amazing to see. Thanks for sharing!

I believe that little yellow unit is a Chevy SSR. Sort of a sport truck, only lasted a few years I think. Thanks for sharing the pics. I've met quite a lot of vintage car folks from Europe over years, coming to our swap meets for cars, trucks and parts.

Yes, the yellow one is an SSR (Super Sports Roadster) made by Chevrolet. These were made from 2003 to 2006. About 24,100 were made. The first two years had 5.3 liter engines. The last two years used LS2 Corvette engines. They weigh a surprising 5000 pounds, which was one of the reasons the engine size changed. Automatic and manual transmissions were offered. When new they sold for as much and often more than a Corvette. Even now they often sell for at or more than a same year Corvette. They are convertibles, the roof folds back and down into concealed compartment behind the seats and in front of the bed. These little hummers hold the road very well and will reach scary speed ...fast! For more info see: SSRFanatic.com
