Have You used paint that is listed on ebay,such as Rayflex,Trinity or another? I know these are inexpensive paints but are they still good paints?
I want a really nice paint job,not exactly show quality but still a sweet paint job.If You have used one of these paints I would like some feedback or better yet pic's.
What i am looking for is a base coat clear coat type that will look awesome.
My dream color is Candy Apple red,But may be out of my price range,The rayflex Candy apple red doesn't look like Candy apple red imo,
However rayflex has a Gun Metal paint that might suit my needs for an accent color,anybody use it?
I have been looking for a photo of a Real candy apple red paint job,so I can ask what to use for a basecoat to get the correct color red,I have heard of using pink or gold,any suggestions?
If I find out exactly what I need I may just save up enough to do that candy apple red paint job.

With paint you really do get what you pay for. Buy quality paint you will thank yourself later.

candy red is not a color,rather a technique of painting .You start with a base coat of silver or gold is the norm. Then start with a transparent red, blue, green or whatever. Keep appling untill you get the desired effect. However ford did have a color of red called candy apple on a 67 or 68 mustang if memory serves me .I would take the previous advice and not cut corners on the paint

Candy Apple red is called a tri-coat paint system. You don't save money using cheap paint; you will use more of it to cover and won't be happy with it. It may go on good but won't last.

True candy is a tinted clear coat of sorts. If you don't know how to spray it you can end up with streaks or worse. It will fade over time and not evenly.
If you want to see what different base coats may look like you can find the red plastic film 'thingy's' in some of the sewing sections of stores (quilt makers use them) and take it to the paint store and lay it over different shades of metallic basecoats to get an idea of what you will end up with.
The best advice has already been given. Don't cut corners and use cheap paint. You will not be happy with the results.
