So today I went to go pick up tires and the man showed me a head that I believe is from a 216,nothing odd there but what was odd was that it has port holes on top of the original intake ports to add another carburetor, thus making it a dual carb set up.he has the head and the intake manifold.he said it was for the bigger trucks.has anyone ever seen this?I don't know how to post pictures so of you want to see it text me at 323 239 4131.gope someone can help.thanks

Did you get the head and manifold casting numbers? Without seeing them or the head, my initial thought is he has a 235 head that came on Corvettes. I'll txt you later today for pic. If it is and if he'll sell it for a reasonable price, you might want to buy it.

15 bolt head - 216 or low-pressure 235 head

18 bolt head - high-pressure 235/261 head

Does it have four screw holes for the valve cover?

Not Corvette, that sounds like a "RAJO" head (or a head converted to that design), only made in 15 bolt, very rare.

Cool....had no idea

The RAJO head led me to a thread on the HAMB where a lady had one in a running/driving 1953 car. Looks crazy, but sounds like it actually ran great.

The actual head has "RAJO" cast in, so does the manifold. A converted original casting will look somewhat different, even have near-vertical extra ports.

Can't find any more text WRT increased compression or combustion chamber shape.
According to an original ad, the extra 1 bbl. carburetor's linkage is progressive and can be adjusted to operate only at higher speeds.

It's a Rajo or a clone.it says Arco on it.but it definitely isn't a stock,235 head.

IIRC that head already has the Powerglide 1-15/16" valves.
