1954 Chevy 3600 with fuel unit on top of the tank. All I can find is a five hole gasket but need the six hole one. Leaking and getting raw fuel smell in the cab. Thanks in advance for direction. Also is this cork or rubber? Thanks!

Make your own, get a gasket punch set-very useful-and scissors.

The original on my '38 was cork. I'd go with modern neoprene. Cork can be porous. FWIW I never heard of a six hole sender.

That must be it. Looking at the way the unit is mounted on the tank, it appeared all of the screws holding it in place are the same size. Guess I was thrown off by one of the holes in the gasket being smaller. I will give it a go and thank you!

All the holes are the same, but they are not evenly spaced. It may take a try or two to get it located correctly.

I would NOT use one of those cheap made in china gaskets

on my truck. I highly suggest using a gasket made

by GM . You certainly have choices .

I used the cork gasket on my truck .

Does ethanol gas have an effect on neoprene ?

What's the made in china gasket made of ? Who knows !

I would also double the filler hose of the gas tank. I had a problem with gas smell and found the rubber hose that connects the filler tube on the outside of the truck to the metal tube feeding the tank on the inside of the cab had a loose connection. Over the years all the movement had the rubber hose almost pulled off on the low end. The hose clamp was not very tight either. When I would fill up gas would leak out around that connection into the cab.

I have no idea what vehicle your gas tank is from .

The photo in my first post showing my 1954 3600

gas tank is the original tank to my truck.

Obviously your tank has been changed at some point .

Was thinking the same thing after seeing your pics. I just got the truck a few months ago. The truck has been modified with a 327 Chevy small block under the hood with a TH350 transmission two owners ago.
