Nope, they're totally different! The Buick is a good engine, but it's heavier than the Chevy, and won't wind as tight. Buick, Pontiac, Olds, and Chevy all produced 350 engines, and they don't share many, if any parts. Ditto on the 455's, with Buick, Olds and Pontiac producing different versions of that displacement, all different from each other, and Chevy's 454.

The 350 Buick is a great engine and can make lots of power. Go over to www.v8buick.com and have a look around.

The Buick 350 is a great engine. Speed equip. is pretty expensive though. I always thought they were lighter than the chevy. Ive been wrong before though.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

They did install some Chevy engines into the BOP cars of the seventies, especially the intermediate size cars. Have someone who knows what they are looking at tell you what it has.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe all the modern era 350s (think roadmaster, fleetwood, and caprice) are basically the same chevy engines. In the big cars, the buick and rear drive cadillac had a throttle body injection 4-bolt 350 in 1992-93, and from 1994-96 the fleetwood, roadmaster, and caprice all had a version of the LT1 corvette 350. (In 91 the buick had a chevy 305, which is the motor the caprice, and the ill-fated oldsmobile version, had until 1994. From '94 to 96 the caprice sedan came standard with a 4.3 V8, not V6, and the LT1 was an option).

well I sorta ran away for a minute there, but those last big wagons, especially the LT1 versions, are another fetish of mine:)

By 1978 it was possible to find Chevy motors in other GM divisions cars. So you should look close, but there is no mistaking a Buick V8 for a Chevy V8. There was a point where an Olds buyer was trying to sue GM because he got a Chevy motor. After that, GM did not put the Chevrolet sticker on those motors. The GM started saying the motor was a "GM V8". Parts are cheaper for a Chevy V8, but the Buick is a pretty stout motor.
