Special tool required? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,777 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,777 | Yes, there is a tubular tool with two prongs that engage the slots in the nut that holds the point spring and the condenser wire in place. A pocket screwdriver with a very narrow tip can be used to engage one side of the slotted nut, or a short-bladed common screwdriver can have a slot ground in the center to clear the stud. I like to use a piece of 5/16" or 3/8" steel fuel line about 3" long with one end filed to engage the nut and the other end drilled for a piece of 3/16" round stock as a handle.

It made it easier to draw up the connections then using a open end wrench on the inside. I still have the one I used 65 years ago.
