I see Optima batteries listed but would a ValuePower VP-26 Battery 525 CCA work for mt "54 3600?

Yes, probably at least a year?

Make sure you have clean cable connection (at both ends), and make sure you have 2 gauge or bigger battery cables/straps.

I ran an Optima for eight years in my '38. It took a dump three years ago while we were on a VCCA tour & got replaced with a standard lead acid 6v. So far so good with it.

I have 10+ year old 6v Optimas.

If you ever let one go dead, check the Optima website for the recharge technique (do not throw it away until you try that technique).

The trick to making any battery last is to give it some exercise. The absolute worst thing that can happen to it is to sit dormant. If a battery is discharged about 25% of its capacity and recharged frequently, and NOT allowed to bounce around excessively, it should last several years. Keep the connections clean and tight, discharge/recharge often, and don't let it go dead and stay that way, or allow it to sit idle for long periods.

Something happened internally to mine Tim. It wouldn't respond at all to any attempt to recharge or jump start, totally dead.

I believe you, Tiny.

Did you follow the Optima procedure for a deeply discharged OPtima/AGM battery?

https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/support/charging/resuscitate-deeply-discharged-battery

I saved two 6v Optima destined for trash, after the dealer tried a deep discharge, and failed to revive them.

I am glad I did not let the dealer throw them away.
