So I'm 7 years deep into a 58 Apache restoration and I've managed to get around to starting the rebuilt 235.

Fuel is pouring out the butterfly shaft bushing, and quite honestly the carb looks like complete hell.

I need a new carb for this old girl. The old Rochester has put in many decades of service, and its time to move on.

I see Carter makes a carb with an ever-appealing auto choke feature.

What do you guys think? Is this a wise move? what do you kings of carburation recommend?

Thanks fellas!

Engine is a 58 235 bored 40 over.

Don't know which model Carter, what do you think would work? Ive seen a few listed that work on the 235 but I don't have a particular in mind.

The Carter YF 2100S was manufactured for the 55-59 235's. It was specifically made by Carter as an aftermarket replacement for the stock Rochester B. It bolts right on and the linkage is an exact match. It is a manual choke. If you start to look for a Carter YF, be sure that you hunt specifically for a 2100S model. There are many different model YF's, and you'll want to find the one made for your '58 235.
