Hi guys, Another question on the 66 C20 that I'm converting to a V-8.
You are saying that I can just take the flywheel off the I6 engine and bolt it on the 350 smallblock?? Then keep everything else the same??
Will the original bell housing bolt up to the 350??
Thanks guys. Huge help.
Sorry I didn't get back to ya yesterday. It was a little hectic.
Yes, we're basically sayin that you can do just that. The I6 and V8 bellhousing patterns are the same (until ya get into later years...and then it becomes a mess.) Bearing in mind some of the things that other folks have suggested, I think you should be in for a pretty simple swap.
The best way to find out is to start turnin wrenches. A word of suggestion: if you haven't done this before, label the wires, hoses, etc. that you remove....and use waterproof ink, just in case you end up washing down the engine compartment before droppin the V8 in. This will make reconnection a lot easier. There shouldn't be a whole lotta stuff to connect (wanna help with my 85 Monte Carlo? It's like rewiring the phone company's connections) so it really otta go pretty smooth.
Good luck with it.
