Just curious, when you order patch panels how close is the gauge of steel compared to the original?

I remeber a friend getting volkswagon parts, this was years ago, But when he got them the gauge was quite a few sizes up compared to what was on his car. It was pretty wimpy compared to the original steel.

Ive got rusted out rocker panels in a 72' and a dented up cab corner. If the thickness is similar Id like to just cut out and redo the corner (easier and faster) but if its thinner I think Id rather try to fix whats there.

Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff

I replaced my cab corners on my 52, and the steel was, I believe, the same gauge.

This is the same question I had? Can anybody elaborate on panels for 66s and which distributors have better quality in fit.

I ordered a new rocker panel for my '70 C10 from LMC and the thickness was close to, if not the same as the original. The fit was almost dead on; required only a small amount of hammer work to form a perfect fit.

Cribb66, I would assume the same to be true for you. Just remember, every truck is a little different so you will have to do some fitting with any replacement panels to get them to line up just right.

This may sound obvious, but never cut anything until you have the new panels in hand and can see exactly where you need to cut for a good fit with the new pieces.
