I am using Jim Carters Turn Signal Switch (EL13312).
All connections check out and the unit works fine.
I have two 6 Volt Flasher Units:
1 0riginal with truck
1 New Heavy Duty

Original unit has 6.5 OHMS between Post X & L
New unit has 12.6 OHMS between Post X & L

Voltage @ Bulb sockets using Old Flasher is 6.13 Volts
Voltage @ Bulb sockets using New Flasher is 3.00 Volts
With this voltage reduction, bulb is very dim.

Indicator Lights on Turn Signal Switch do not work using Old flasher.
Indicator Lights on Turn Signal Switch do work using New flasher.[/u][u]

Any suggestions?

Simple test...switch the flasher units. If the problem follows the old flasher, then replace. If it does not, we will have to dig deeper.

I had trouble with flashers too. As I recall I finally ordered a 6 volt flasher at Napa and it was twice the price of other ones. It worked correctly but does change speed a little as it heats up. I did add flashers to the front marker lights above the head lights. I think there are many crap electrical parts being produced.

The flasher units have been switched. That is how I got the results shown above.

Do you have the two wire can or the three wire can. If three wire, power to it he interior lamps is provided by pin "P" on the can.
I just checked your switch part number and it does require the three prong can. You are using the three prong can, correct?
In the last several months I purchased two new 6 volt positive ground flasher cans. One didn't work. Found out the diode was installed backward.

Yes, it is a 3 wire flasher.
I guess I will buy another one & see if anything changes.

I used a 535 flasher from NAPA (made in China), the flashers were fast, like a bulb was out...not the case though. Also the flasher did not make a perceptible clicking noise even though it is billed as a thermal unit and not one of the newer generation electronic flasher units.

I found a NOS Tung Sol 6V 535 flasher made in the USA on ebay and picked it up for around $15 delivered.

Good news, the flashers now flash at a reasonable rate and its easy to hear the good old fashion Click-a Click-a of old.

So, my advise is to consider something other than the NAPA 535 for your 6 volt flasher needs.

Keep in mind what beltfed said. There is a special terminal on the flasher for the lights inside the turn sig unit. The one's you say won't blink.

Whoa a minute. "I must have the electronic unit." Do you have LED's front and rear? Then you have an incandescent lamp as your blinker indicator? If so, that is your problem. The LEDs get a voltage pluse from the electronic can. That short pluse does not give the incandescent lamp time to heat up and glow.

No, I do not have LED's.
I do know the flasher I ordered is a Thermal unit. will see if this cures my problem.

I was not clear. I had to buy flashers from different vendors before finding one that works. They were all correct for incandescent lamps. Some just did not function correctly.

Replaced the Flasher with one made in the USA. Problem solved. Lights work as they should. Not a loud "click" but that is OK.

Glad it worked out. It does seem like the "click" on mine has gotten a bit softer. Either that or my hearing has lessened another notch.

I recall amplifiers for turn signal relays, wonder if they're still available....
