I was wondering if anyone has used a kit to mount a later model ps pump on the outside of the frame ahead of the axle. If so is one any better than the other? I see several companies offer some form of kit. The instructions for your mounting on your 56 may be a little different. I used this kit and a Saginaw steering box (remanufactured) from the local parts house. Do some research and you will find several pitman arms can work from a junk yard rather than pay the high price! I once had a nice article showing the steps to do it for our years but the page is "no longer available". EDIT: I think the instructions that come with this kit show both for the AD and the TF series so you would be good to go.

Very similar kits however pol offers the pitman arm about half the price. They also recommend 6 degree shims for the springs. I got the ps gear and column from 84 truck.
