Today I picked up a very nice 8' stepside box off a '66 half ton. Im going to put it on my '50 4100 with some custom made fenders. I'll have to put some shallow wheel wells in it but I think its going to look great. The box I got even has matching patina on it. Still need a tailgate for it though.

A 50 4100 has a wheelbase of 137", same as the 3800 1 ton, which has a 9' bed. A 9' bed from the 1 ton might fit and look better.

For ideas on fender extensions and other nicely done metalwork to make a dually 1 ton check out this thread.

The frame on my truck measured from the rear of the cab to the end of the frame rails is exactly 8'. This bed box that I got is about 8'2" long. It will work perfectly.

Thanks for the link btw - I just don't care for the way he did his. That bed is too long for that chassis in my opinion. Without extending the frame rails he isn't going to have any good way to mount a bumper.

Mine will be unique when it's done. There won't be another one like it.

Did a 3800 come with a fendered stepside bed on it? I would have assumed those trucks were sold as a cab and chassis only.

1950? if a pickup bed - all were "stepside" (a 1-ton cab/chassis model was also available)

1966? a stepside and fleetside 3800 pickup was available

year in your question? 1950 4100 = it looks like none of them came with rear fenders?

The 3804 was a factory 9' step side pickup with single rear wheels.
