I'm getting ready to work on the hood of my 49 3600 deluxe cab...... from the factory, was the center strip painted or raw and polished? thanks

I'm 99% sure that it was painted. But there is that 1% I'm not sure about. Cecil.........

It was originally painted the color of the hood. If you did not paint it, how would you keep it from rusting? I think I have seen polished strips - maybe they were aftermarket stainless or chrome?

That's what i'm thinking too.

I disassembled my 47 hood, completely. The underside of the center strip was painted with the body color, before it was put on. Also the center of the hood was painted the same, before it was rivited together.

Painted and they look horrible otherwise.
