I am wondering if any local bolters feel competent with windshields. I have a 54 3/4 ton with no glass at all. I am getting the glass in the next few weeks. Just checking to see if there is anyone able to give me a hand. I was afraid I would scare the neighbors with foul language associated with task. I checked with a Richmond-based glass company about doing my windshield because I am certain I will break it during the install, based on my experience with the back glass.
That said, if you decide to do this, I will gladly come help. Maybe I've gotten better...

Generally if the procedure involves some sealing or caulking compound we used the modern version which is black urethane glue/sealer. The stuff works really well. However it was no fun at all to work with and if it got on anything it was pretty much there to stay.
So in many occasions we had a professional glass service install them.
If the price quoted sounds reasonable I'd let the professionals do it as they're more practiced in using that nasty sticky urethane.
If you don't have a nice paint job and or don't need it to be just right perfect may as well do it yourself, or if the price seems unreasonable. (Just me and a string and some soapy water) I am pretty sure it is not perfect, but it is in and the truck outside in the rain right now....First time water tight in over 40 years!! Just did the back barn door glass and windshield myself last week. Not perfect either but I'm certain it will do for a driver and the money I saved I can use elsewhere.
