im looking to buy some front fenders does anyone have any input on which fits better the repro steel fender or the fiberglass ? and where is the best place to buy them? my search for good used ones is coming up empty.thanks

Which year are are looking to buy? For fiberglass it all depends on which company makes them. When you phone to order fiberglass fenders ask which company makes them. I've heard lots of bad things about Superior Fiberglass, Old Chicago so maybe stay away from them. I would probably try Jim Carters or if your looking for used keep an eye on parts for sale or put an ad in parts wanted.

Watch the swap meet here for your fenders. Any year between 48 and 53 will work for you. They are also found on Ebay pretty often or look around your area. You should be able to find some used ones somewhere under all that snow you have.

most of the fenders i have come across from up here are junk . gotta love that salt on the roads. and believe it or not we havent got any snow up here this winter.

Fiberglass works well or does, on my 37. Try R&R Fiberglass in Tennessee. I have # somewhere and they are the ones that actually make them and they do not make them by spraying...but lapping. Some companies spray the fiberglass and it causes low or thin places... Send me privage message if you want the #....in the meantime I'll look it up....

I have seen some workable fenders on ebay, some ship, while others are pickup only. Anyone know of any good junkyards in Ariz, Nev? May check Hemmings for parts sources too.

Diffentely if your going with fiberglass you want to make sure they have been hand laid becuase if they been sprayed it causes thick and thin areas which in return causes your fender to become wavey when it heats up in the warm sun. There are companys that build nice parts do some research, ask questions when ordering.

I ordered a set of 39 fenders a couple weeks ago from R&R, I previously bought a set of running boards from them. I was impressed with the quality and the thickness. Ill post a review when the fenders get here.

Any good source for new metal front fenders for 47-53 3100? I see rear fenders in every catalog I pick up, but no front.
