Did you first unscrew the end-cap and slide it back?
Also, the outer surface of the torque-tube should be shiney-slick (no paint and no rust) for as far back as you have to slide the bell/cover.

The torque tube does have dirt and gunk that I didn't clean off | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | Lou, on the right end of the ball/bell/housing is a collar that is screwed onto the threaded right-end of the bell/ball/housing. Inside that collar is a seal and two metal rings. That collar can be unscrewed and pushed rearward - this make it easier to move the ball rearward. The outer surface of the torque-tube needs to be clean, shiney, and smooth. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 215 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 215 | Sorry for late response Got it! | | |
