The body is soon to come off my panel. I need to weigh the benefits vs cost of blasting it or dipping it. For one thing, I need to find a dipper in my area. Cedar Rapids is roughly equidistant from Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis and Omaha. I would drive that far if I had to, but it would sure be great to find a good one around here.

I'm really leaning toward dipping because the windshield has been leaking a long time and the area behind the dash is rusty. I'm afraid a blaster won't get it all and I'll regret going that route later on.

1.) How to I find a chemical immersion rust removal buisiness with the facilities to dip the entire major body shell?

2.) How can I find reviews or customer feedback on them?

My preference would be to find one locally, second choice Minnesota, third Chicago area. I have friends in those places that can ride herd on the job for me and give me a sofa to flop on when I make the delivery and pickup runs.

I'm with you. I had my entire 55 chevy pickup dipped because I wanted to know exactly what I had to work with. I saw restoration projects that will be worth a heck of a lot more than mine like an AAR cuda being dipped and figured it must be a good way to go.

My frame will get sandblasted in the next week or so. Everything else will get dipped.

I already had my doors, running boards and fenders dipped and will be getting my cab and front and rear axels dipped pretty soon. It is a rgeat process! I had everything done near Milwaukee, WI then moved to the Toledo, OH area and will be using a new company in Toledo for the rest!

That's where I'm at in my process also. I have the cab pretty much stripped on my '47 ('46 style) COE and there is quite a bit of rust where the cab halves come together. I'd like to kill all the rust so it won't come through from behind later. I'm not too far from Omaha, does anyone know of a place around there that can dip cabs??

Jeff, does your shop in Muscatine do a good job? Can you wash the cab somehow to remove all the acid after you get it back, like at a car wash maybe?

Yeah, Jeff! More details please! Can they do something as big as a panel body? Do they offer the optional final step that puts a chem film rust retardant on before you haul it to the body shop?

What's the name of the place? Do they have a website?
