Anyone know for certain what lube goes in the little shift box on the back of the speedo? Mine is binding up and spun off the speedo cable. It looks like dried out old grease in there but if I put a bunch of grease in it, it is a bit too stiff to shift. I am wondering if it I should use the same lube as the steering gea. I looked in my manual but did not find anything listed there. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | AC Delco made a grease for that. Came in tooth paste type tube. I'll look for a tube to get the part no. Maybe it still can be bought. I disassembled it and put new Lubriplate 130 in it. It is the same white lubricant used for screw type garage door openers which comes in a tooth paste type tube which you can get at a hardware store. For you M1 Garand collectors it is the same tan lubricant used in WWII that came in the little plastic tubs (not the later Korean War stuff that lookes like ordinary grease).
