The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline J-2669 Tool or alternative?

Does anybody have a J-2669 Clutch Gear Shaft removal tool I could borrow or is there a similar tool on the market today, know where I could get one? I'm needing to take my Muncie SM420 down to replace a few bearings, etc...

Also needing a J-2667 for same job.

Back in January of 2008, I thought about collecting

all of the Kent Moore Specialty tools for the SM 420

transmission. I've been able to collect # 1, 2, 3, 6,

7, 9 & 13 that are shown in the SM 420 tool page

below. I've only seen J-2667 on ebay one time & the

seller wanted $275.00. I did not buy it. IMO ...way

over priced.

All of these tools are very scarce & very hard to

find.

I would not loan or rent any of these rare tools out

for fear of not getting them back.

I'd let someone use them in the confines of my work

shop or back yard.

I check out the antique tool vendors at the Carlisle &

Hershey , PA. spring & fall swap meets every year.

No SM 420 specialty tool has ever shown up.

SM 420 4 speed transmission Specialty Tools is Master

Gabster Denny Graham. He's made a number of these tools

and made them well. I wish he'd post photos of the tools he's made for the SM 420.

Any time I get dead ended in a repair-by-the-manual "specialty tool required" scenario, I get to work on either finding another way to skin that cat, or go to work making my own specialty tool (in my Jed Clampett shop at the Old Haney Place). To me, that is the most rewarding aspect of working on old stuff.
