Tried chasing it with a tap but it will not hold the bolt... Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, and similar places sell then, plus they're available on Ebay. It's a quick, easy, and permanent fix.

Or try tapping a fine thread same size bolt? I have the same issue. It looks to me that the riv-nuts are 5/6-18 NC thread, but the special hood bolts are 5/16-24 NF threads.

I will check but I could swear the hinge bolts on my 59 were 5/16 x18... Very possible I'm mistaken...I'm a woodworker not a mechanic! Will post how it works out... Anything to squeeze the rivet section out against the hole works- - - -the plier tool just makes it quicker to install a bunch of 'em.
