I am mating a 1966 283 with a 1987 SM465 transmission.
Correct me if I am wrong but I would use an early 168 tooth, 2 piece main seal flywheel with a later model clutch kit to fit the 35-spline main shaft correct? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 | Use the flywheel and starter that came on the 283, then the clutch disk that matches the transmission.

You will need a bell housing to match the SM 465 as the center hole for the front brg retainer has a larger hole then the Sm420 or 6 cyl.

I was able to get the bell housing that came with the transmission. I will just need to find a part number for a 283 flywheel.

All SM420, SM 465 & G.M. versions of NVG4500 have 10 spline input shafts, are you sure the 32 & 35 splines aren't the output shaft?
