This is my FIRST american car and its a 54' 3100 step side. I bought it from my neighbor who has had it in his family since it was new (CA car). I'm not new to modifying cars or forums (was a forum moderator) so I thought I'd start here. The truck is in descent shape and looks pretty nice. It is rat rod style with a primered body, smoothed hood, no emblems, 39' Ford taillights, frenched headlights. The motor has been worked on also. It has a 261 that was rebuilt and ported and polished in the 90's, TH350 transmission, Ford 9" rear end (pretty sure), Clifford intake manifold, Fenton header into a dual pipes ( no mufflers), Holley 4 barrel carb, K&N air filter, HEI ignition, also has a drop axle in the front.
So I a extremely happy with it and kinda just want it to run and stop is what I had determined. It's difficult looking at all the photos online of motor swaps, custom paint, interiors, beds, etc. I think I just want to install front disc brakes (although really want IFS).
current issue is it won't start. I was driving it and went to the gas station to fill up the tank (which was drained before I bought it. Now it turns over but won't start. kinda a bummer but I think it's a spark issue now. Anyways...just wanted to say hello.

About the starting issues, ask your question in either the engine or electrical forum, maybe someone can help.
Good luck with it, any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Having a Ca. vehicle, with a lot of body work done...or sounds like it, you are ahead of the game. The guys in the garage forums can help with any problems. Just give them the info. Chances are they've had the same problem.
Easy way to find out if you have spark is have some hold he spark plug wire just barely out of the distributor, or holt the spark plug end of wire to metal and watch for a spark.....however I'm leaning to you having a clogged filter even though the tank was drained. Pull the breather off and look down the throat of the carb and see if you can detect any gas squirting down the carb......the 261 is a dang good engine. Good luck and nice pickup. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,062 Big Bolt Forum Moderator | | Big Bolt Forum Moderator Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,062 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2016 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2016 Posts: 15 | Thanks for the welcomes all.
