I'd like to try this on my 52 Chevy truck. Its paint job is about 25 years old and looks pretty good from 20 feet away. My problem is that the truck sits outside in warm weather and the paint chalks a lot. I'm getting tired of spending hours using a cleaner/ wax to get the shine back. I am hoping some clear coat would stop the chalking and protect the paint. Can anyone recommend a clear coat I could apply with a roller or brush that wouldn't look like it was applied with a roller or brush?

The chances it will look worse than the current finish is very high.
The prep prior to clear coating would be acactly the same ( spray vs roller/brush) and accounts for 70-80 % of the cost and work. If cost and equipment is the issue ......do all the prep and have someone spray the clear.

Seems like we got a discount for suppling out own paint. They nay not be as expensive as the ckear coat and will do a better job! The paints used back in the day didn't have clear so they needed buffing to keep the shine. It's part of owning a truck that doesn't need paint today because it's still really a nice truck. | | |
