I am at the point now where I am diassembling my old 51 Chev ,3100 and am going to have the parts painted separately. It is now a light blue,not the original color,but I really like it. Many of the old timers that drove 57 Chevys,cars, called this color Robin's Egg Blue. I don't know if this is the right name but it sure sounds right. Does anyone know where I can get the Dupont color codes for this color or for something close. Perhaps Mariner Blue. Is that the lighter of the two blues for the 51's and 52's. Thanks

Take a sample to most any modern body shop and they can get you a recipe for that exact color. I think they do it kinda like the Menards people mixup your house paint.

Note: scanned images of 50 year old chip colors displayed on a PC screen are no indication of true color - use these only for comparing light and dark blue. The greens are terrible on the scans below and the dark colors are hard to distinguish. At least, you will find both Ditzler/PPG and Dupont codes on the scans below.

Windsor Blue is the lighter of the two blues used in 1951/52 Chevrolet trucks. Also note that the 1951/52 Mariner Blue (a very dark, navy-type blue) is a name given to two different colors used between 1947-1955.

There was a '77 Corvette color that is fairly close. My poor car was originally this horrific shade...thankfully a PI had repainted it.

Phillip; Beautiful GMC truck. The color is great ,but just a little darker than I was looking for.
Tim; Thanks for the original paint color chips. The Windsor and the Mariner are both too dark also. I will probably go to a color that was not original to that year, but thats ok, the truck is going to be a daily driver ,not a show truck so I want it to look nice.
To GMC Panel; I logged on to oldgmctrucks.com and clicked on pickups, and there it was, the exact color I am looking for. It's on the 52 or53 pickup in the upper right corner. Now I just have to figure out what color it is. Again, thanks to allof you and any other input would be great.

There was a Skyline Blue in 1955, an Empire Blue and Iceberg Blue in 1956, and a Larkspur Blue in 1957. Maybe one of those is the color you are looking for.

Larkspur Blue is the light color in \'57 model.

and Larkspur Blue is the color of the fine-looking \'57 convertible.
