Unless a previous owner has added a turn signal kit they did not originally come with your truck. Those kits back in the day usually included or were used with something like this. https://www.flickr.com/photos/advance-design_parts_co/8130552846/in/album-72157631870734114/There was a wide variety of aftermarket versions available and accessory Guide models that could be used. I chose to eliminate these and bought sockets for my original parking lamps to convert them to turn signals. http://www.classicparts.com/1947-59-Double-Contact-Conversion-Kit/productinfo/47%2D905/ | | | | | Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 186 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2014 Posts: 186 | I made mine both. I put in yellow LEDs for turn and white LEDs for park. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 | Yep. How I added the dual contact socket for turn signals on my truck. Clear lens and yellow bulbs. 1157 lights and all was good.

I think the filaments are different. One is thicker than the other one. If so, I think the thicker one is your turn signal. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | The 1949 Chev truck wiring diagrams shows stop (white) and tail (black) and both 16 gauge wire. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/electrical/wiring/index.htmThe bulb goes in one way. Maybe someone know which filament is the larger/brighter? On the rear, those two filaments served as parking/marker/driving and brake light. I forget which one was used for turn signal. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,107 | The brake and turn are the same filament. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | The brake and turn are the same filament. That would depend on what type of signal switch is used. | | |
