I am looking for help with putting on a new hood to cowl seal on my 1941 Chevy ak truck. I believe I have the correct replacement but unsure about attaching. I have no pictures or 41's nearby to look at. Anybody have any illustrations etc.

You might re-post this in the body shop area of the forum. Maybe some guys there who do a lot of body work are accustomed to those particular seals....(or maybe they can direct you better than I).

Ok, the 41 and 46 are the same here. The cowl seal is either rubber or cloth about 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick. There is an indent in the cowl where the seal goes. You will also need the clips that hold the seal to the cowl. Screws go through the seal and the clips into the body at each rounded indent on the cowl. There should already be holes for these screws. There 4 on each side. The seal starts in the middle by the hood hinge across the top of the cowl and down the side.

Check out some of the vendors, they may have an illustration of how the seal is attached.

Hope this helps.
George

Thanks George, I just had it painted and I am not seeing any holes but they could be covered with putty/paint. I bought the seal from Chevs of the 40s with six clips and no info.

Harold, thanks a bunch for the photo, that was perfect. I was able to install one side and it looks great. Now it's time to put in another order to Chevs of the 40s for a bag of clips. Much appreciated.

I was wondering how similar the cowl lace was to the '38. The '38 had those clips just at the ends with a "J" hook between.

J hook.

End clip.

Tina,
Maybe the hook was used due to the "lip" on the cowl lace in 38. The lace on the 42-46 is flat thus the clamp. Just a guess on my part.
