Probably will have to dig out the old, possibly wire wheel or spotbalst any rust, prime, use a seam sealer, I have found the stuff in a tube won't hold up,,3M two-part self leveling seam sealer is what the bodymen say to use. Just for your info, one of the men at my plant has a '72 p/u. He had it painted several years ago and this same area sealed. It is now rusted almost beyond repair. I mentioned your post to him and he said when he had his painted, the shop told his SOP on these gutters was removal. They told him they were always a problem area and eventually would be the source of cancer.

So far so good.

It's all about the prepwork I think.
If you use the SEM two part self leveling or something similar, you've got to work fairly fast as it sets up and cures fast. Seemed to work pretty good, I just wish the working time was a little longer. Also, you need a special applicator. My paint store gave me one to use, just had to leave a deposit.
