For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2016 Posts: 14 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2016 Posts: 14 | Hello 'bolters. My name is Royce. I live in Louisiana. Most of the time I am working on gas turbines, but right now I am here to get as much help as I can with a restoration project I picked up a while back.
I am currently taking online classes to get a degree so i can make more money. Who doesn't need that, right? When I'm not working or studying I enjoy riding my Harley, working out, hiking with my dog, Mauricio, an English Bulldog that likes to go hiking, but not for long.
About 10 years ago i acquired a 1961 Chevy C-10 "Apache 10" 1/2 Ton Long Wheel Base pickup truck that my grandfather used as a farm truck when i was very young. Long story short, he had a stroke in 1983 and it's been parked in a shed since. I plan to restore it to as close to its original glory as humanly possible. This is going to be a bigger undertaking than i first thought. The truck has severe rusting in the floorboard. The bed is all but gone and even the frame has some severe rusting on the front. So I am here to make a project thread and take in any advice that more experienced people here may have to offer. I will be making a project build thread with pictures. If anyone cares to help out just drop a reply.

As you probably already have seen we have quite a few garage forums here ranging from Driveline, Engine, Paint and Body, HiPo and many others as well as the swap meet to buy or sell parts. You are not alone in your journey and you can find the help you need right here. Just ask questions in the most appropriate forums for best results. Take time to read the tech tips and check out the Links.
Many do a Build Thread in the DIY Forum which is a sub-forum of this the welcome centre. Start you a build thread there as many of us like to keep up as you go along and list progress...... but of course you still ask questions in the garage forums. And there is also a forum for the 60-66 years.
Welcome aboard. See ya around the garage. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2016 Posts: 14 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2016 Posts: 14 |

Like the jokes about the cab. I figured that would be the hardest part to fix. A tree fell on the shed it was in some years ago. That proves how tough these trucks were built. That was a pretty big tree! I am going to try to fix that as best i can. I figure a 2x4 and a three pound hammer should make a good start.
I plan on taking as many pictures as possible and posting in that album. The link should remain good as long as Google doesn't decide to change something. I am going to lay out the body panels and take close ups so anyone who cares to can lay some wisdom on me about what can/should or can't/shouldn't be done with them. Right now I want to find a good service manual, preferably a GM shop manual for that year. What did people do before the internet? Go talk to people? LOL

Again, this is just a guess. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2016 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2016 Posts: 1 | | | |
