It is a complete off-frame restoration. I did all the work, including painting, myself, with the exception of the re-upholstery of the seats. It has been brought back to all-original specs, except for the oak floor (I couldn't resist). It was often a challenge finding parts for a 3/4 ton, but I managed, with the help of several people on this board, especially my good buddy Alvin. Here is a link to my photobucket sit for a few pics. Just a fantastic job. I suppose I'm gonna have to make another trip to your house for a ride.....and the PorterHouse steak will be on me! I'll forward your picture to Karla. I know she will want to see it. You have the pickup, the car, and now the panel. What did you use for engine paint? I like that dark grey.

JW51, the two places (that I know of) that sell accurate color for the 216 are the Filling Station and Eastwood. Eastwood also has a special ceramic paint designed for engine blocks in Chevy gray, and that's what I used.

Thanks--I'll be waiting for your visit and that steak. Once I rest up a bit, I'm going to re-do the 37 half ton--I've found better rear fenders, boards and bed. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 245 | Excellent !! Great work I have a question too--- what is the object at the trailing edge of the door, up high? Looks like either a badge or a handle? Thanks Greg

These old bolts are in my blood. Hard thing is focusing on just one.

The object up by the top of the door is a decal that was placed on the original truck by the original owner--a Chevrolet dealer here in MN. It was the dealership truck from 1938 to about 1970 or 1972. Because it was originally put on by the dealer, I thought I should preserve it, so when doing all body work and painting, I carefully masked it and preserved it.
Second question: yes, as I understand it, the rear door stops changed from 37 to 38.
Thanks,
