After sourcing a local (rebuildable) replacement, it measures the same. I guess all this stuff about a 1 3/4" throttle plate on the 261 is nonsense??? Its bigger than a 235, but not THAT big.

Isn't it the VENTURI- - - -not the throttle plate, that's supposed to measure 1 3/4 inches?

Larger. To install a smaller throttle plate would be detrimental by design. It won't draw fuel properly. Call it an assumption on my part, but it was quite a surprise to see the small throttle plate. Obviously it was intended to idle well and drivability doesn't really matter. | | |
