Since then I have dropped in a 235 with short water pump but used the bell housing off of the 216 and the 3 speed. The 235 came with a 3 speed that bolted to a cross member and will not bolt up to this bell housing. I was told the guts are the same... Now my issue is I have lost 3 gear. Can anyone tell me what my options are using what I have along with the enclosed drive shaft and stock rear end?

I'm pretty sure the truck came with a Muncie 3 speed is that correct? If so that is what I have now... not having a lot of luck tracking this information down via google or the search option.

If I am correct, the 51 truck tranny won't have any place to mount it to a cross member, the bell housing is the rear mount for it. A tranny with a mounting boss on the tailshaft is for a car.
