Which post does the sender wire go to ? What goes to the other post ?........thanks....J

Between 47-55 (at least) the hot input lead goes to post behind E (Empty - on the left, from the front of the gauge) and the lead to the sender in the fuel tank is behind F (Full - on the right, from the front on the gauge). Of course, I purchased a 12 volt tank sending unit and float. The post behind the "E" (outboard) was smaller than the other (inboard) which seemed counterintuitive to me, but I tested everything with jumpers first to confirm I had it right.
